Welcome to Central Gippsland

Here is a short introductory video about Gumnut Cottage and our surrounding area.

Located near the La Trobe Valley, in the very heart of Central Gippsland; we are midway between Sale and Traralgon.

Traralgon is enviously located within an arm’s reach of enchanting forests, mountain-top adventure, glassy lakes and mighty rivers.

Sale is a port town with a dazzling arts and culture scene, lavished with scenic parklands and lakeside life.

Our local town, Heyfield, with a population of under 4,000, is only minutes away from our door. A happy little town with all the supplies you should need for your stay (IGA Supermarket, Fuel, Bakery, Chemist, Cafe & more…).

Located on the Thomson River, providing the gateway to the Victorian High Country.

Visit our Local Area page for further information about our region; including the surrounding townships and local attractions.

"The most beautiful accommodation in Gippsland. Had the most relaxing time at the cottage with the beautiful mountain views. The accommodation was extremely clean and everything was perfectly thought out, with all the little extra touches around the cottage to make our stay a 10/10. We enjoyed the warm and cosy cabin with the surrounding friendly farm animals. Above all Mel was a wonderful host who was kind and friendly and accommodated to all of our needs. Will definitely be returning in the near future and recommend to anyone who wants to relax with their loved one." Mikayla July 2023
